Who cares, really?
Sunday Open Thread
Apparently there is a football game today. I might be heading off to a party myself, but have had the flu since Wednesday and may sit it out so that I do not infect everyone.
Besides, who really cares about the pats and the Giants anyway?
*** Update **
How come programming like CBS Sunday Morning is not good enough that there is something like it at night during primetime? Am I really now that old and uncool that my tastes are radically out of the mainstream?

More Ryan Leech. Warning: if you try anything like this fate will break your leg and laugh at you.
NFL Open Thread
As far as the Giants/packers, I am rooting for the Packers. While the Giants are a classy organization, I have always rooted for Green bay in the NFC, and how can you not root for Favre.
As far as the patriots/Chargers, I am indifferent. Nothing good can from the game. Either the Patriots win, which for obvious reasons is bad, or they lose and I have to spend the next month listening to meathead former NFL announcers say things like “That is why they play the game,” then we get to spend the next six months psycho-analyzing why the Patriots did not win. As you can see, neither is a desirable outcome.
RIP, Ernie Holmes
This sucks:
One of the original members of the Steel Curtain, Ernie Holmes, has died following a one-car accident near Beaumont, Texas, officials say. He was 59.
Holmes, who was an eighth round pick out of Texas Southern in 1971 by the Steelers, resided in Texas.
He played for the black and gold from 1971 to 1977, and finished his career with the New England Patriots in 1978.
I am not old, by any stretch of the imagination (I am only 37), but I am soooo tired of people from my youth dying. Too much death going on.
The Canadian in Me
I am watching the hockey game tonight. Montreal Canadiens vs. the New York Islanders. So far, Canadiens are up 3-2. I hate the Habs. I remember rooting for the Soviets with my dad when they played Montreal many, many years ago.
On the upside, Toronto is beating Carolina 5-3 with 7:11 lft in the 3rd. Nashville is beating Calgary. Bah.
Atlanta 4. Detroit 1. 3rd period. I AM an Atlanta fan.
Stay Classy, Rich Rodriguez
Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez remains public enemy No. 1 in West Virginia.
If today’s reports from West Virginia newspapers are true, with the first one emerging from the Charleston (W. Va.) Gazette, the hatred is about to reach a new level.
The initial Gazette report, which cited an unnamed source, said that Rodriguez “destroyed all or most of the paperwork filed relating to every player on the Mountaineer roster and virtually all of the activities conducted by the programs over the past seven years.”
Rodriguez and Michigan officials were unavailable for comment this morning.
I hope he goes 0-11 and loses to THE OHIO STATE by 90 points.
