What will the lead conspiracy theorist at the nation’s premier website for conservative thought do now:
The state’s Department of Health director on Friday released a statement verifying the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama birth certificate.
The state has received multiple requests for a copy of Obama’s birth certificate. State law does not allow officials to release the birth certificate of a person to someone outside of the family.
***“Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures,” Fukino said.
I predict the response will sound something like this: “But, but, but…. AYERS!”
Wankers. The best part of this is when they pull out their batshit crazy BS after the election, we can just point to all this nonsense from during the election to discredit them. They should have taken Ben Smith’s advice.

…no matter who does it. This time, it’s a group supporting Democratic challenger, Bruce Lunsford, in Kentucky. I will admit that I don’t know much about politicians outside of presidential and local politics. I never knew, for example, that Mitch McConnell’s sexual orientation was something people questioned.
Be that as it may, it disgusts me that this is being used as a campaign issue. I don’t know much about Mitch McConnell. He may be an ass, for all I know. I have no reason to believe that Bruce Lunsford had anything to do with these ads. He may not have.
But he needs to denounce them. If he doesn’t, I hope he loses. Because, if he doesn’t, it means he’s one of those people who will do whatever it takes to win – no matter what. I hate those people.

“We are witnessing, I believe, probably one of the greatest comebacks that you’ve seen since John McCain won the primary,” his campaign manager, Rick Davis, said in a conference call with reporters, adding that when it came to the electoral votes needed for victory, “We believe, with the combination of our base states and the states we’ve been able to put into play this week, we can achieve 270.”
Reality:
More reality:
…all numbers that have moved very little int he past few weeks. What a comeback!
And, by the way, has the McCain camp put any states into play this week? Any? I know Obama has put Georgia, North Dakota, and Arizona into play. But any for McCain? One?

Republican Sen. John Ensign says Sarah Palin is not experienced enough to be president and John McCain’s presidential campaign “completely mishandled” her early days on the ticket.
The Nevada senator made the comments in a television interview in which he also criticized Democratic nominee Barack Obama’s readiness for the job. Ensign then strayed far from the GOP’s standard description of its vice presidential pick’s qualifications.
“Well, I do not think that Barack Obama or her are experienced enough to be president of the United States — neither one of them. And Hillary Clinton was much more qualified to be president than Barack Obama was, but that’s who the nominee is,” Ensign said Thursday on the Las Vegas news program NewsONE.
One of his staffers should just call Fox News now and reserve him a time slot for his walkback.

The thing that immediately stuck out to me about Palin’s bizarre 1st Amendment comments yesterday was that this didn’t seem like the first time I had her say something like that. It turns out it was not. Here she is a few weeks ago saying something equal parts incoherent and creepy:
As we send our young men and women overseas in a war zone to fight for democracy and freedoms, including freedom of the press, we’ve really got to have a mutually beneficial relationship here with those fighting the freedom of the press, and then the press, though not taking advantage and exploiting a situation, perhaps they would want to capture and abuse the privilege. We just want truth, we want fairness, we want balance.
And here she is yesterday:
“If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations,” Palin told host Chris Plante, “then I don’t know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.”
I am not sure how you interpret the collected deep thoughts of Sarah Palin regarding the role of the press and freedom of the press, and we might know more if we were allowed to ask her questions, but this is a disturbing trend. She honestly seems to think that the role of the press is to serve as stenographers for those in power, cheerleaders for the government at large, and that when they refuse to do so, they are somehow acting not in accordance with her twisted understanding of the Constitution. We need to get this nutjob back to Alaska here she is their problem.
Also, it is important to remember that she has a journalism degree. These are her collected thoughts on something she allegedly knows. Terrifying.
