The secret ingredient on Iron Chef tonight is lemon, and because the first thing I try to do mentally with every secret ingredient is to try to imagine it as an ice cream, I realize I have never had lemon ice cream. I’ve had lemon ice, and lemon sherbet, but no lemon ice cream. Why is that not sold?
Also, this is pretty awesome:
We also got to meet Barry Eisler, author of the novel Inside Out, who will be with us on the Book Salon on July 3. (Not to give anything away, but Dan Froomkin appears as an FBI Agent, Marcy Wheeler is the antagonist’s ex-wife, I appear as a Director of Information Security, and both Josh Marshall and John Cole are on ex-boyfriend duty.)
COOL.

Frank Gaffney is still nuts:
Frank Gaffney, a protégé of Richard Perle and an influential figure in right wing national security circles, has firmly entered the world of right wing tin-foil hat paranoia.
Media Matters documents the development of a new right wing conspiracy theory, claiming that the Obama administration manipulated the redesign of the Missile Defense Agency to look like his campaign logo.
This should surprise no one- here is Gaffney last year on Hardball accusing Obama of speaking in code:
Breitbart enterprises is the gift that keeps on giving.

Why are Lieberman, Nelson, and the rest of the Senate concern trolls not at the HCR summit? Where is Bart Stupak?
It is telling that the people who did the most to screw up this process and have inordinate power are not even deemed by their peers and their leadership to even be experts on the topic. But there they are, every day, screwing shit up.

Normally, I’d be joking about Newtmentum, but Newt probably had to pay a lot of money for those two annulments and the only reason he’d want to convert would be to run for something. So I think he may really run for president in 2012:
In an interview with National Journal reporters and editors this morning, Gingrich said he and his wife Callista were “trying to organize our activities to be in a position to make a decision [about running for president] in February or March [of ’11].”
I certainly hope he runs. I’ve been getting the sinking feeling that we may be looking at Romney, Thune, and an assortment of neo-Paultards in the 2012 Republican primary. Newt and Palin would certainly spice things up.

Steve Benen highlights a great exchange between Obama and president McCain:
The tone of the exchange makes it pretty clear that McCain still hasn’t accepted the fact that he lost the election.
I realize I say this over and over again, but it bears repeating: everything in Washington is about social status. McCain was a big man inside the beltway for years, he had Dana Milbank regularly fellating him until about a week ago, and then some nobody waltzes in and starts acting like he’s in charge. And that’s hard for McCain to take.

If it is not obvious to anyone with an iq over room temperature that the Republicans want to do nothing but kill any bill, I’m not sure what more it is going to take.
