I always hate it when we have serious posts at the end of the night on week-ends, so here is another open thread.

CNN presenter Kyra Phillips practices actual journalism and reduces NOM spokesman David Tyree to (even more) incoherent babbling by using such unfair journalistic tactics as research, follow-up questions and requests for him to provide evidence for his statements.
More of this please.
ETA:
Evangelicals, Jews and Catholics in the state are urgently mobilizing their communities to bring a stop to the legalization of gay marriage. Senators’ offices are being inundated with calls with the Senate expected to vote on the Marriage Equality Act Friday.
If you live in New York, have you called your senator yet?

I live in Baltimore. Last year on Election Day, while I was out working to GOTV we received a robo-call at our house around 6pm telling us:
Hello I’m calling to let everybody know that Governor O’Malley and President Obama have been successful. Our goals have been met. The polls were correct, and we took it back. We’re okay. Relax. Everything’s fine. The only thing left is to watch it on TV tonight. Congratulations, and thank you.
It was yet another dirty trick from the Republican Party of Maryland and former Governor and douchebag Bob Ehrlich.
Well, today Ehrlich’s Communication Director and a well known scum for hire in Maryland politics were indicted on multiple counts of election fraud. TPM has details here and Steve Benen weighs in here.
The Indictment, posted at the Baltimore Sun, is pretty amazing in the way it pulls back the curtain on Republican efforts to suppress the vote by any means necessary.
This kind of voter suppression effort is a pillar of Republican Confederate Party electoral strategy. It is going on in every State in the Union and by any means that they can get away with using. In Maryland they were caught (this time) and prosecuted (this time). But in most places and in most cases there is no penalty.
Why?
You know why: IOKIYAR. That’s why.
And how about a fresh Open Thread.
Cheers

Our first report from the Balloon Juice meet-up is in:
I’m with Kay in Minneapolis, and she doesn’t have her own computer and can’t remember her login to use mine. If you want an open thread for it, you’ll need to do it yourself.
Correspondent fail.
I bet Jon Stewart doesn’t have to go through this shit with John Oliver and Aasif Mandvi.

My first adventure into pasta making was a lot of fun. Good learning experience- I learned a couple really important things. First, sticky dough is a disaster, you really need it to be the right consistency to make good noodles. Second, I’m not sure if you are supposed to do this, but every time I ran it through the roller at one level and was about to go down to a thinner roll, I dusted it with flour. That really helped.
My real problem is I haven’t quite figured out how to make do with only two hands- when I am feeding it through the cutter to make the spaghetti, I need one hand to hold the ough, one to operate the crank, and somewhere I need to find a third arm to collect the cut spaghetti (please, no Weiner/third arm jokes).
At any rate, we are going to have a pasta making party tomorrow, and everyone is going to come over, make a bunch different pastas and different sauces, drink lots of wine, and then eat tons. Should be fun.
Hopefully Kay will have a report from the BJ meet-up at NN#11, as that should be starting soon.

As I’ve said before, there’s some pretty cool Republicans in the Empire State (via):
Sen. Roy McDonald (R-Saratoga) – in a dramatic reversal from his earlier opposition – became the second GOPer in as many days to give his blessing to same-sex nuptials, bringing Senate support to 31 votes.
[….]“You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, f— it, I don’t care what you think. I’m trying to do the right thing.”
Reminds me a little bit of the great George Michaels (not that one).

Here’s Chris Christie telling a constituent to STFU and GTFO for asking a question worth asking of someone who underfunded schools by as much as $1.7 billion: Why is it fair for him to cut public school funding when he sends his kids to private schools?
