Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

There are times when telling just part of the truth is effectively a lie.

“In this country American means white. everybody else has to hyphenate.”

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

You know he’s going to shit a cat.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

How any woman could possibly vote for this smug smarmy piece of misogynistic crap is beyond understanding.

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

We are learning that “working class” means “white” for way too many people.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

“Facilitate” is an active verb, not a weasel word.

CNN Calls It

Thank bloody God. Tapper: “For tens of millions of Americans, their long national nightmare is finally over.”

Hahaha!

This happened this morning, Twitter cops muzzling the POTUS for telling great big fat lies about the election that he’s losing — has in fact LOST:

Auto Draft 27

It’ll be a relief to have a president who doesn’t lie all the time, especially about matters of grave civic import. Just think — Twitter won’t have to assign shifts of monitors to watch Biden’s Twitter feed for fear he’ll go Radio Rwanda on us. It’s a small thing because Twitter is silly anyway. But it’s a huge thing because the outgoing president is a fucking lunatic. I hope someday this sort of thing becomes unthinkable again.

I Don’t Get The Callous Indifference For Others

NEWS: Along with Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows, at least FOUR other White House aides currently have coronavirus, per sources.

Pains were taken to keep Meadows’ illness a secret, I’m told. And people around him who knew were told to keep quiet.

— Jennifer Jacobs (@JenniferJJacobs) November 7, 2020

I’ve had a cold for about five days now, and it was irritating enough that on Tuesday I called up my provider, scheduled and appointment at the drive through clinic in Wheeling, and went down and had a covid test. I didn’t think I had it, but I was feeling like crap and even though my oxygen levels were at 99 and my temp was 97-98 degrees, I have to do enough trips to the doctor with neighbors and do enough grocery pickups that it was the only responsible thing to do. I got the results on Thursday, and I am, of course, covid negative, but I had to know.

I simply do not, and will not, ever understand what is wrong with these people. It’s just something that I can not understand.

Visual Communication: The Pennsylvania Attorney General Brings His A Game

by Adam L Silverman|  November 6, 202010:06 pm| 147 Comments

This post is in: America, Domestic Politics, Election 2020, Information Warfare, Open Threads, Politics, Silverman on Security

While we wait for Vice President and President-Elect presumptive Biden and Senator and Vice President-elect presumptive Harris to begin their event, I wanted to point out Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s absolutely excellent visual communication capabilities. Take a look at the picture below and notice what is on the shelf behind and a little bit above his left shoulder:

Visual Communication: The Pennsylvania Attorney General Brings His A Game

In the center, in front of the clock is a USPS mail truck. To the right of the truck is Count Von Count from Sesame Street. To the truck’s left, at the extreme left of the shelf, is Sam the Eagle at the presidential podium from The Muppet Show. And between Sam the Eagle and the USPS mail truck, to the left of the clock and above everything else is a Notorious RBG action figure.

Regardless of what AG Shapiro was saying, what he’s communicating here is that under his watch Pennsylvania will count all the mail in ballots in the 2020 election and for president under the watchful eye of the late Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This is excellent visual communication!

And here’s the video of the media hit. Wait for it… Wait for it…

Well played young Shapiro, well played!

Flowers are found everywhere from the formal gardens like The Huntington or The Japanese Garden to the hills of Southern California in the Spring. They are also a renewal of nature and signal a changing of time from the chill of Winter to the warmth of Summer.

I have a small garden area outside my front door with a deck box and roses on each side. I shot this with a wide aperture so the background would be out of focus.
