The devil went down to Georgia
He was looking for some votes to steal
He was in a bind ’cause he was way behind
He was lookin’ to make a deal
When he heard Brad Raffensperger
Was counting votes the way that he ought
He made a perfect phone call
And said “Boy, let me tell you what …
I guess you didn’t know it, but I’m the winner fair and true
And if you find some votes (14,000 ought to do)
Then we can get me crowned again,
The way I ought to be,
And I won’t have to badger you to be a friend to me.”
But Brad had his recorder on
And Georgia said “No way,”
Now one peachy indictment’s
Headed bigly DT’s way.
What is this? It’s as if they’re all coming home to roost. pic.twitter.com/I7XuPUXSdp

In order to be released on bail in Georgia, the defendant must prove there’s no risk of witness intimidation or the obstruction of the administration of Justice.
After what Donald posted about former Lt Gov Geoff Duncan today, that’s going to be exceedingly difficult.

If that’s true, this would definitely be an “own goal” !!!!!!
Oh, and my little Henry loves tomatoes so much that he jumped on the chair, chimed on the back and managed to knock 3 fresh, ripe peaches to the floor in his attempt to get at the tomatoes that were also on the table.
He did not even show the courtesy of eating the peaches, which were ruined. But at least he didn’t get the tomatoes, which he is allergic to!

Seriously, it’s impossible to argue with this, am I right?
He must be able to see the future!
Prediction: Lots of twitter vaccine experts will be switching their major to RICO indictments this week.

If so, you may be a winner!
I think we should have given the office pool blog pool another dimension – not just picking the day that Trump would resume witness tampering, but also the case. Or perhaps we should at least have to pick WHO he would be attacking.
Otherwise, it’s just too easy!
So many choices!

Holy shit.
This is bad strategy for Trump, and it is most assuredly giving heartburn to the attorneys who were either stupid, short-sighted, or both, when they took him on as a client, and if Judge Chutkan is true to her word, as I expect her to be, it surely will make the J6 Coup Trial happen sooner than it might have otherwise.
Win-win for us, I guess.
Oh, and I think someone sped up the clock, because apparently even the witnesses who were supposed to appear before the Grand Jury TOMORROW in GA are there today.
BREAKING: everyone’s going today. https://t.co/dMmDxCQWF5

I was not prepared to bake anything before tomorrow! Luckily, i have buttermilk in the house, so I can choose between both the chocolate fudge cake and the buttermilk cornmeal cherry galette.
Oh, and I heard 2 things on a podcast this morning that were new to me: 1) that apparently up to 18 people may be part of the indictment in GA (blows the dice… come on, Lindsay) and that every day of his life Donald Trump has woken up with the fear of going to prison. Of all the things I worry about, going to prison has not yet been one of them!

We have had so many wonderful OTR posts lately!
If you have been thinking about submitting a post or a series to OTR, this would be a great time. We have had quite a backlog for awhile, with some posts taking 2 months to be published after submission. Right now, we have 2 weeks of posts in the queue, so if you submit something this week, you should be seeing it published quite soon!
Here’s the schedule for this week:
It was good to go through my Tanzania images again, not only to find some shots I had not previously processed, but also just to relive the trip and recall those days (and nights) in some gorgeous and wild places. But now we are back in Kansas, as Dorothy did not say to Toto, for some more spring migrants and summer residents of Flyover Country. I will be in southeastern Arizona by the time you read this, and hope to have lots of images to share from there as well.

First up are the orioles. We’ve already had looks at female Baltimore Orioles (Icterus galbula) in previous posts this summer, but the males are also quite stunning. This is a male is his second summer on the planet, but he as showing all the cheeky attitude of an elder! Click here for larger image.

Medium Cool is a weekly series related to popular culture, mostly film, TV, and books, with some music and games thrown in. We hope it’s a welcome break from the anger, hate, and idiocy we see almost daily from the other side in the political sphere.
Arguments welcomed, opinions respected, fools un-suffered. We’re here every Sunday at 7 pm.

This week, we’re concentrating on three wonderful stand-alone mysteries by Josephine Tey. Along with her extraordinary The Daughter of Time, which we’ll discuss on August 27th, these three are longtime favourites — eminently re-readable!
Miss Pym Disposes (1947) — when is it moral and appropriate to take action, no matter who may be hurt? Or is it better to take no action, no matter who may benefit? Miss Pym’s Hamlet-like waffling is central to the way this mystery unfolds.
The Franchise Affair (1948) — although the book is 75 years old, it resonates today with its exploration of mob mentality and malicious media misinformation. (Yes, for the purists, Inspector Grant is present, but in a minor and adversarial role, so I’m categorising it as a stand-alone.)
Brat Farrar (1949) — this is the story of a charming imposter who insinuates himself as heir into a prosperous county family. A criminal action, yes — but he uses his assumed persona to expose and bring to justice the far more serious crime of murder.
In all, Tey gives us richly-drawn settings, engaging and memorable secondary characters, and thought-provoking moral challenges. I look forward to a lively discussion!

Something to remember this week as we trash Trump voters:

– were also part of the jury that held him liable for sexual assault.

People who voted for Trump:
– were also part of the resistance that stopped him from stealing votes in GA and AZ.
– were also part of the jury that held him liable for sexual assault.
– were also part of grand juries that voted to indict him.
– are also capable of convicting him for his crimes.
Don’t fall for the artificial hype around him.
The rule of law still matters to most.
Also, I just sent zoom links to everyone who sent email requesting them. It’s the same link for the Legal Zoom today at 3 pm Eastern and the Legal Zoom link with Imm next Sunday. If you didn’t receive a zoom link, send up a flair flare!
