Post your comments. Personally, I have to compliment Sarah Palin. She has a great ability to use a lot of words to say absolutely nothing. That’s unique.

A five-page article by Ryan Lizza detailing, in depth, how Biden became the pick, and the conversations he and Obama had about Biden’s role in the administration.
I can’t possibly imagine a story longer than, oh, a sentence or two, about how Sarah Palin got picked and what her potential role would be.
Update: Here’s the New Yorker article on Palin. Basically, just a lot of conservative pundits on a couple of cruises who saw little starbursts when tney met her at the mansion. I need to subscribe to the New Yorker – just to read people like David Sedaris more often – for gems like this on “undecided voters” (via):
To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.

Our tech goddess, Sekimori, has fixed the black screen of death that was messing up the comments (with an assist from a helpful commenter). As such, a celebratory picture:

Clark Stooksbury at the American Conservative runs down the topics at the National Review election post-mortem:
Liberal Media: threat or menace.
Remember Bill Clinton, wasn’t he awful?
Did we discuss Ayers, Acorn, Rev. Wright, etc. enough?
Why haven’t we bombed Iran yet?
We would have won if we had only nominated Romney or Thompson.
Some people were mean to Sarah Palin.
Will Obama bring back big government?
You know he is right.
FWIW, I just got my first copy of TAC in the mail.

Joe Klein of Time, someone who pisses everyone off on all sides of the political landscape, has covered nine Presidential campaigns, including the Clinton campaign AFTER it was revealed he was the author of Primary Colors. Now, however, he has been banned from boarding McCain/Palin planes as part of the press entourage. Of course it is exceedingly petty and absurd that they would ban him because they do not like his coverage, but at the bottom of this Politico story about the affair is a quote that really sums it all up:
Campaign spokesperson Michael Goldfarb responded that “we don’t allow Daily Kos diarists on board either.”
I have stated repeatedly that the McCain campaign is being run by wingnut bloggers- that Michael Goldfarb, wingnut blogger for the Weekly Standard on loan to the McCain campaign, chooses to continuously confirm my assertion just makes it even funnier. On the upside, at least Goldfarb did not give us another Dungeons and Dragons reference.

I know times are tough, but if you are so inclined to toss a few bucks to a good friend of this blog, I would appreciate it.
A present:
Rhode Island in the fall, sent in by a reader. The colors mirror what we see all over West Virginia this time of year (but with more mountains!).
