Here’s a shot of a typical Arkansas voter appearing at the county clerk’s office after casting a provisional ballot, affirming that they are too indigent to afford a photo id. Open thread.

Arkansas’ voter suppression law loses its first court challenge:
[…]. In the hopes of combating a voter-fraud problem that doesn’t actually exist, the state’s voter-ID law presented “a limited range of government-approved forms of identification. Out-of-state college IDs, for instance, are not allowed. Voters without ID must cast provisional ballots, then go to the county clerk to affirm that they’re too ‘indigent’ to afford ID. And unlike some other states’ ID laws, this one does nothing to help voters obtain identification, such as providing transportation to government offices.”
The Arkansas state constitution has a voting rights provision, and the judge’s ruling was based on that. I don’t know what that means for appeals (does it stop at the Arkansas Supreme Court?), maybe some of our lawyers can explain that.

Here’s an interesting piece on how the FCC’s “Fast Lane” proposal, which shows how the 2010 FCC called and wants its Internet back:
But Wheeler didn’t deny that his new proposal will allow the types of “fast lane” arrangements that the FCC repeatedly warned against in its 2010 Open Internet Order. That order was recently struck down by a court decision, forcing the FCC to write new rules and justify them using different legal authority.
The FCC could have reinstated all the rules in that order by reclassifying ISPs as common carriers, but it chose not to. On the plus side, Wheeler says the new rules will prevent “blocking of lawful content” just as the old ones did. But payments in exchange for an Internet fast lane will be allowed as long as they’re “commercially reasonable,” a much lower standard than the one adopted in 2010.
A fair number of Democrats are complaining. Here’s a taste:
Concerned about news that the @FCC may reverse ground on net neutrality. We all deserve equal access to the internet http://t.co/wZV9HkxloV
— Richard Blumenthal (@SenBlumenthal) April 24, 2014
Deeply troubling report on new #FCC net neutrality rules, there shouldn't be a "fast lane" http://t.co/cGsTZTQ6tJ
— Kirsten Gillibrand (@SenGillibrand) April 24, 2014
I don’t see the downside of Democrats having a fight over net neutrality. We need to give people reasons why Democrats controlling the House and more Democrats in the Senate would lead to better policy, and this is an issue that resonates with younger voters. And I don’t see how it’s a big blow to Obama, who can swoop in and be the hero by reversing the FCC who’s better off complaining than accepting the FCC’s decision.

At least it gets my creative juices flowing:
He’ll learn not to leave that shit lying around, one way or another. This is still a Steeler household.

I have been chuckling about this dismantling of Hannity by Jon Stewart all day, and you really need to watch it, if only to see the phrase sriracha bukkake used, well, appropriately.
I’m not even going to bother trying to embed the spot because the Comedy Central website is now an even worse incomprehensible mess with an actually shittier embed than before. I wish I knew who rebuilt that website to actually make it worse, because it was already a total fucking disaster and embedded videos crashed my browsers 90% of the time. I wish I knew them, because I would choke them out with a ball gag made from teletype tape and then beat them to death with a flail made of old floppy drives.
Does anyone test their fucking website layouts anymore before going live? When I look at abominations like USA Today or the new Comedy Central website, I think we all might have been better off if we just fucking stopped at usenet.
This post is in: Because of wow.
This kind of shocked me, because the guy is a clear sociopath, but he really nails this:
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: I agree entirely with Chuck. First of all it isn’t enough to say I don’t agree with what he said. This is a despicable statement. It’s not the statement, you have to disassociate yourself entirely from the man. It’s not like the words exist here and the man exists here. And why conservatives, or some conservatives end up in bed with people who, you know, he makes an anti-government statement, he takes an anti-government stand, he wears a nice big hat and he rides a horse, and all of a sudden he is a champion of democracy. This is a man who said that he doesn’t recognize the authority of the United States of America. That makes him a patriot? I love this country, I love the Constitution, and it is the Constitution that established a government that all of us have to recognize. And for him to reject it was the beginning of all of this. And now what he said today is just the end of this.
And I think it is truly appalling that, as Chuck says, there are times when somehow simply because somebody takes an oppositionist stand, he becomes a conservative hero. You got to wait, you got to watch, you got to think about it. And look, do I have the right to go in to graze sheep in Central Park? I think not. You have to have some respect for the federal government, some respect for our system. And to say you don’t and you don’t recognize it and that makes you a conservative hero, to me, is completely contradictory, and rather appalling. And he has now proved it.
Gobsmacked.
BTW- has anyone started a list of the conservative heroes who have all flamed out? Let’s start a comprehensive list of these assclowns, their praise, and their imminent demise. Joe the Plumber and the witch from Delaware and Snowball Snooki and that idiot who makes that shitty pizza whose name I can not remember are a good start.
