To the fainting couches we go:
I hate the term “war on women”. It’s so hackish and echoes with the kind of liberal screechiness that backfires with everyone else. But the fact that there is a wave of laws in GOP controlled states, making abortion harder and harder and more humiliating to obtain, and what can reasonably be described as a full-bore assault on Planned Parenthood, is simply undeniable.
This one paragraph really says so much about Sullivan, and not in a positive way. He really does just initially fall in line with whatever the authoritarian right belches out, because at least there is a level of machismo there, and he doesn’t have to identify with those pussy Democrats and their screechy liberalism.
Even though they are right.

*** Update ***
Sullivan in 2008:
Screechy! And shrill! It really only is about things that affect him directly, isn’t it? The broad assault on women doesn’t impact him, so accurately labeling it a war on women (it ain’t just abortion, either, Andrew- they are fighting re-authorization of VAWA and doing things like rolling back equal pay statutes as well as lots of other things) is just whiny hackishness.
