Have at it.

Let’s start the day with some pictures:

TGIF
I think I am gonna head out to get something to eat, basically because it is Friday and I am too lazy to cook something. Thought I would leave you a shiny new thread to play with.

Here is something to think about:
If Mitch McConnell (or, say, Judd Gregg) were a Mensch…
…pigs would fly, I know, but if McConnell had any sense of decency he would do the following:
Vote for the stimulus package in the Senate.
Why? So that his colleague, Sherrod Brown, would not have to leave his mother’s wake (say that again, in all caps: HIS MOTHER’S WAKE) in Ohio, fly to DC, cast his vote, and then fly back to Ohio in time for his mother’s funeral (say that again, in all caps: HIS MOTHER’S FUNERAL) tomorrow.
I mean, there is no doubt that the bill will pass. There is no question that Brown’s vote will be the needed 60th to ensure passage. The only other option, the only other vote to provide the margin of those who voted at the last, procedural hurdle is Ted Kennedy, and he’s dealing with brain cancer (caps again: BRAIN CANCER), so it falls to Brown, trying to bury his mother, or some one Republican with a sense of decency sufficiently developed to switch his or her vote in Brown’s stead.
This is kind of sad
The NRCC Twitter feed (on the right-hand corner here) has only 1349 followers. That’s approximately the number of Republican staffers in the House. It means that no one whose job doesn’t require them to follow the feed is following it.
This is the only Twitter feed that I follow. It updates with about the same frequency as the NRCC one.
Crash
A catastrophic crash in Buffalo last night, killing all on board, including a 9/11 widow:
According to CNN affiliate WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, one of the crash victims, Beverly Eckert, was the widow of 9/11 terror attack victim Sean Rooney, a Buffalo native. Eckert was traveling to Buffalo for a weekend celebration of what would have been her husband’s 58th birthday.
She also had planned to take part in presentation of a scholarship award at Canisius High School that she established in honor of her late husband, the Buffalo News newspaper reported.
Such a shame. I know several people who went to Canisius College, and I had a roommate from Buffalo. The place, while technically a city, really has a small-town feel, so this will really hit the area hard.
Call Mike
Michael Moore is working on a film about the banking crisis (sound effect: expensive pants shat). If you work in the biz he could use your input.
I will admit that some of Moore’s appeal comes from the same perverse feeling that drives wingnuts to idolize anyone who pisses off liberals, no matter how nutty. That said, Michael Moore is just not that nutty. The wiretapping abuses, torture and insane ideological failure of everything from Iraq reconstruction to the DoJ that have come out since the premiere of Fahrenheit 9/11 make that film look if anything restrained and understated. Major media figures who picked accuracy fights over details in Sicko usually lost. Kvetch about his tone all you want, but it is hard to describe Moore’s attitude towards recent targets as unfair.

I’m tired for some reason. It has been raining and crappy all day, and that always screws up my sinuses. Also, Tunch, for no reason whatsoever, just ran into the office, attacked my right foot, and then screamed out of the room like a cruise missile.
It is only a little scratch, but it did draw blood. The fat bastard has gone feral.

An early entrant for the 2009 Golden Wingnut Award. I’m laughing hysterically.
