Did any of you godless heathens attend the Reason rally (which has nothing to do with glibertarian wankers and everything to do with atheism) this weekend? Here is the Richard Dawkins speech:
I had no idea Eddie Izzard was an atheist.

Rick Santorum, who wants people to believe that there’s no difference between Obama and Romney but doesn’t want to be caught saying it, said “bullshit” to a dirty liberal New York Times reporter who asked him a question about his latest attempt to call that dog with a whistle. According to the proto-commies at ABC News, here’s what Santorum said in his speech:
During the speech, as he railed against Mitt Romney for his healthcare plan in Massachusetts, Santorum said the former Massachusetts governor was the “worst Republican in the country” to take on President Obama.
“Pick any other Republican in the country. He is the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama,” Santorum said at South Hills Country Club.
No need for clarification there, unless you’re a liberal elitist. Here’s the Santorum campaign’s justification for Rick’s dirty word:
Earlier today, while campaigning in Wisconsin, I criticized Romney and Obama for their outrageous healthcare legislation. Predictably, I was aggressively attacked by a New York Times reporter all too ready to defend the two of them, and all too ready to distort my words. Let me assure you, I didn’t back down, and I didn’t let him bully me. I think it is high time that conservatives find the courage to expose the liberal press for what they are, a defender and enabler of Romney’s and Obama’s liberal agendas.
Again, no chance that Santorum thinks that Romney is as bad as Obama, and if you get that from the last sentence of that statement, your membership certificate for the bicoastal elite is in the mail.
Here’s my question: I realize that the 27% think that “blah blah elite liberal media blah blah” is a great excuse every time a candidate fucks up, and I’m sure that they’d be fine even if Rick repeatedly punched a Times reporter in the face, but isn’t “dirty liberal media” getting into “dog ate homework” territory for the non-27 percent?

Because he is an asshole. SATSQ:
Asked about polls suggesting many in the public continue to think Obama is a Muslim, Gingrich said in Louisiana that he takes Obama “at his word” that he believes in Christianity.
Then he launched into a riff on how Obama’s policies are excessively sensitive to non-Christian, non-Jewish faiths, suggesting it could raise doubts for some about where the president’s impulses come from.
“Why does the president behave the way that people would think that [he’s Muslim]?” Gingrich said. “You have to ask, why would they believe that? It’s not cause they’re stupid. It’s because they watch the kind of things I just described to you.”
Gingrich frequently rails against the administration for “anti-religious bigotry” and claims that he’s acting against Christian organizations. In his stump speech, Gingrich bemoans Obama “apologizing” to Muslims and juxtaposes that with what he sees as an assault on the Catholic Church.
Four and a half more years of this nonsense.

It just never stops with these religious fanatics:
“The Senate approved a bill Monday evening that deals with teaching of evolution and other scientific theories,” the Knoxville News-Sentinel (March 19, 2012) reported, adding, “Critics call it a ‘monkey bill’ that promotes creationism in classrooms.” The bill in question is Senate Bill 893, which, if enacted, would encourage teachers to present the “scientific strengths and scientific weaknesses” of “controversial” topics such as “biological evolution, the chemical origins of life, global warming, and human cloning.”
Among those expressing opposition to the bill are the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee, the American Institute for Biological Sciences, the Knoxville News Sentinel, the Nashville Tennessean, the National Association of Geoscience Teachers, the National Earth Science Teachers Association, and the Tennessee Science Teachers Association, whose president Becky Ashe described (PDF) the legislation as “unnecessary, anti-scientific, and very likely unconstitutional.”
In favor of the bill is every bible humping semi-literate god-bothering douchebag in the Tennessee Senate. I can’t wait to see how Mr. Robot Sex “Heh Indeedy” contorts himself to make this seem appropriate.

Here we go again:
The National Organization for Marriage (NOM), America’s largest group dedicated to preserving traditional marriage and the faith communities that sustain it, today announced it will lead an international “Dump Starbucks” protest of Starbucks Coffee Company to give voice to consumers around the world who support preserving marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Customers are invited to visit www.DumpStarbucks.com immediately to take action.
“Unlike our opponents, we do not target whole companies for the actions of an individual business executive in that company,” said Brian Brown, NOM’s president. “But Starbucks has taken a corporate position in support of redefining marriage for all of society. We will not tolerate an international company attempting to force its misguided values on citizens. The majority of Americans and virtually every consumer in some countries in which Starbucks operates believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. They will not be pleased to learn that their money is being used to advance gay marriage in society.”
The new protest campaign was announced after the annual Starbucks shareholders meeting today in Seattle, where NOM spokesmen queried the board on its new policies promoting gay marriage and demanded protection against discrimination for employees, vendors and customers who disagree.
“We respect the important role of businesses in providing goods, services and jobs, and that people of diverse moral views build great companies working together,” Brown said. “But Starbucks has corporately, as an organization, endorsed and helped pass gay marriage in the state of Washington. Its executive vice president of partner resources has stated that gay marriage “is aligned with Starbucks business practices and upholds our belief in the equal treatment of partners. It is core to who we are and what we value as a company.” Corporations should not take sides in a culture war that pits a company against half the American people, and nearly all its consumers in some international markets.”
I can think of a ton of reasons to boycott Starbucks. Their coffee flat out sucks (why do people think that when you burn the hell out of beans it somehow is good), it’s horribly overpriced, they’ve in large part Walmarted a bunch of small independent coffee shops, and the only thing that tastes remotely ok is the iced mocha, which isn’t really coffee but a chocolate coated espresso sugar bomb. But the notion that they should be boycotted for simply believing in equal rights for all American citizens is just ridiculous.
BTW- if you want some good Kona coffee, these guys make some great beans (plus, they are just great people). I order from them occasionally, although less frequently since I started drinking tea all the time.

Equal marriage rights are, for now, at least, here to stay in NH:
New Hampshire lawmakers have rejected a bill that would have made their state the first to repeal a gay marriage law through legislation — a move opposed by the governor.
The Republican-controlled House voted 211-116 on Monday to kill the bill that would have repealed the 2-year-old law and restored a law that allowed civil unions in 2008 and 2009.
Normally, you would think this would settle things once and for all, but you have to remember we are dealing with religious fanatics, so I am sure NH will be debating this, at least at the committee level, for years to come.

Another day, another pervert:
A Roman Catholic priest in Montana has been charged with felony sexual abuse of children after sexual images of naked children were found on his Nintendo DS gaming console and personal computer.
The Missoulian reported that a woman called authorities last October to report that nude images of young boys were found on a Nintendo DS game console she purchased from Rudolph “Rudy” Carl Bullman, 67, who serves as a priest at Risen Christ Parish in Kalispell.
The priest admitted to a Flathead County Sheriff’s Office detective that he had used the gaming console to view gay pornography, but insisted all the subjects were at least 18 years old.
A search of Bullman’s personal computer uncovered “images of young males between the ages of 12 and 18, either engaged in sexual activity or displaying their genitals,” according to the Missoulian.
“Well those aren’t adults,” Bullman allegedly agreed upon seeing the images.
A forensic analysis of his computer found an additional 23 images of child pornography in his Internet cache and 23 deleted JPG images.
I love how he was caught- selling his Nintendo with the naked pictures still on it. A guy around where I live was caught in pretty much the same way when he took his computer in for maintenance and the tech guys booted it up and found a shitload of kiddie porn and called the FBI.
