You know what’s hilarious? Talking about your “hot wife” at a campaign rally, and when asked where your wife is, claiming that she’s “at home doing the laundry.”
And by “hilarious,” I mean really fucking stupid:
Last year Kasich defended his very low number of female cabinet appointments by talking about his family life, claiming he makes all the big decisions in his family and his “wife makes all the minor decisions”.
We later revealed that Kasich pays his male staffers 56% more than his female staffers and, more recently, only one of the nine members appointed by Kasich to the board of JobsOhio—the private corporation responsible for awarding incentives to Ohio businesses— is a women.
So when Romney and Ryan invited Kasich to speak – without any prepared remarks – at their rally near Cincinnati today, could they really be surprised when he let loose another crazy comment?
In this little clip from the speech, Kasich talks about his (“hot“) wife, and the wives of Romney and Ryan, and the reasons they couldn’t be at the event today:
“They’re at home doing the laundry” and “at home taking care of the kids.”
The statement that Kasich pays his female staffers less than his male staffers is entirely unhelpful without information about the positions the staffers held. The nitwits on the right have been crying neener! and pointing out that various Democrats don’t pay their female staffers as much as they pay their male staffers. (I wrote about that here.) Of course, if the employment positions are not the same — and the aforementioned nitwits do not make an effort to determine such — then such a claim is useless. To PlunderBund‘s credit, however, in determining the pay disparity among Kasich’s male and female staffers, PlunderBund did some calculations and math and whatnot and it all looks scientific, but math and I don’t mix, so I’m moving on to the crux of this post, which is — WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU, JOHN KASICH?
