In Preparation For This Afternoon’s American Rugby-ish Semifinals…
Given that the recreational enjoyment of that ever-popular friend, Mary Jane, is now legal in both the states in which NFL conference championships will be decided today, I can’t think of a better musical commentary than this one:

The Latest Douche-O-Vation in Gun Lawin’
Remember when Florida let the NRA’s Ma Hammer write the state’s Stand Your Ground law? That worked out so well that they’re adopting the pistol-packin’ granny’s draft of a new bill to allow armed yahoos to brandish firearms and fire warning shots if they feel threatened.
The theory goes like this: Instead of plugging an annoying movie texter in the chest and killing him outright, an armed citizen could just wave his Beretta around or fire a couple of rounds into the ceiling instead, thus saving lives! It’s a pro-life bill!
Also, the Florida State Senator who is passing off the NRA’s work as his own, Greg Evers, has developed a novel definition of Florida citizenship:
“A person with a firearm is a citizen,” Evers said in a recent committee hearing defending the warning shot bill. “A person without a firearm is a victim.”
Got that? No shootin’ arn, no citizenship. I almost feel sorry for states like Texas, Utah, Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi, etc. Just when they think they can out-douche Florida, we release another douche-o-vation like Wave Yer Gun, and the outright crown for Douchiest State in America is ours once again. Suck it, South Carolina!

Fools and Money
After latest shoe that DougJ just posted about dropped, Christopher James “Chris” Christie’s office issued a 1500-word statement that did not deny the accusation, and then he had to sneak around Florida to avoid protesters during a fundraising tour. You’d think that some of the marks that Christie was trying to fleece would get a clue that his political career is over, but it sounds like some of those rich idiots are still writing checks for him:
Getting into his Bentley after the fund-raiser, one guest, Geoffrey Leigh, called the controversy over the lane closures “little flies on the wall, quite frankly.”
I wonder how much Geoffery donated to Romney SuperPACs.
All your redevelopment project are belong to us
Two senior members of Gov. Chris Christie’s administration warned a New Jersey mayor earlier this year that her town would be starved of hurricane relief money unless she approved a lucrative redevelopment plan favored by the governor, according to the mayor and emails and personal notes she shared with msnbc.
The mayor, Dawn Zimmer, hasn’t approved the project, but she did request $127 million in hurricane relief for her city of Hoboken – 80% of which was underwater after Sandy hit in October 2012. What she got was $142,000 to defray the cost of a single back-up generator plus an additional $200,000 in recovery grants.
As always, follow the money. And expect more stuff like this to come out. People were afraid to speak up because they didn’t want to get whacked by the Christie mob.
They won’t be so afraid now.
Update. Is “gleeful” the new “unserious”?
