Good lord, Trump is a fucking idiot:
Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!

It’s like he thinks a Republican won the Democratic primary. The Democratic Party’s nominee for the Bronx-Queens district is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She’s a Democratic Socialist who wants to abolish ICE, supports Medicare for all and is in favor of a federal jobs guarantee.
I think it’s safe to say she wouldn’t piss on Trump’s head if his urine-colored, cotton candy-like hair were on fire. There’s a good profile of Ocasio-Cortez in Vogue here.
Here’s a compelling campaign video:
It's time for a New York that works for all of us.
On June 26th, we can make it happen – but only if we have the #CourageToChange.
It's time to get to work. Please retweet this video and sign up to knock doors + more at https://t.co/kacKFI9RtI to bring our movement to Congress. pic.twitter.com/aqKMjovEjZ

I’d vote for her in a heartbeat. So will the 10-term congressman she beat in the primary because he gets the stakes:
I want to congratulate @Ocasio2018. I look forward to supporting her and all Democrats this November. The Trump administration is a threat to everything we stand for here in Queens and the Bronx, and if we don't win back the House this November, we will lose the nation we love.

I don’t think a candidate like Ocasio-Cortez could win a statewide race in Florida today, but there are districts here she could win, and that builds a bench for the future. I don’t happen to live in one of those districts. But, like most Democrats, I’m happy to see folks to the left of the party’s center win primaries if they 1) don’t demonize our party, and 2) are capable of beating Republicans (these concepts are related, IMO).
Scanning the Beltway coverage this morning, I see that Ocasio-Cortez’s win put the “Dems in Disarray” narrative into hyperdrive. Whatever, man. We won’t see Ocasio-Cortez — or Ben Jealous — wagging a finger in our faces and telling Democrats to abandon “identity politics,” especially not with a racist, sexist, xenophobic demagogue in the Oval Office.
Works for me. Now — go win.

High actuarial value is better, right?
Well it depends.
It really depends on what you assess your prospective personal health risk to be and how much of a hit you can absorb. And from there, it is a matter of interrogating the benefit design of plans.
Let’s look at two Gold plans I designed using the 2019 actuarial value calculator to tease this out a bit.
Plan A | Plan B | |
Deductible | $500 | $2,000 |
Coinsurance after deductible (you pay) | 30% | 0% |
Maximum Out of Pocket | $6,000 | $2,000 |
PCP Sick Visit | No cost sharing | Deductible applies |
Generic Drugs | No cost sharing | Deductible applies |
What plan is more attractive if we assume same insurer with the same network?
What plan has the higher actuarial value?
Which plan is better?

Good Morning All,
This weekday feature is for Juicers who are are on the road, traveling, or just want to share a little bit of their world via stories and pictures. So many of us rise each morning, eager for something beautiful, inspiring, amazing, subtle, of note, and our community delivers – a view into their world, whether they’re far away or close to home – pictures with a story, with context, with meaning, sometimes just beauty. By concentrating travel updates and tips here, it’s easier for all of us to keep up or find them later.
So please, speak up and share some of your adventures and travel news here, and submit your pictures using our speedy, secure form. You can submit up to 7 pictures at a time, with an overall description and one for each picture.
You can, of course, send an email with pictures if the form gives you trouble, or if you are trying to submit something special, like a zipped archive or a movie. If your pictures are already hosted online, then please email the links with your descriptions.
For each picture, it’s best to provide your commenter screenname, description, where it was taken, and date. It’s tough to keep everyone’s email address and screenname straight, so don’t assume that I remember it “from last time”. More and more, the first photo before the fold will be from a commenter, so making it easy to locate the screenname when I’ve found a compelling photo is crucial.
Have a wonderful day, and enjoy the pictures!

Five years ago today, the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in Shelby County v. Holder in an appallingly bad opinion by Chief Justice Roberts. John Lewis seems to have a different recollection than David Gergen about the level of civility during the 1960s.https://t.co/trq9FmfaOR

We should of course treat with great seriousness the demands that protest be conducted in a peaceful, respectful, polite way, because everyone knows that protests like that are honored in American culture and only aggressive uncivil protest is demonized. pic.twitter.com/JIj27ML7Ic

Note to media folks:
Stop asking prominent white men how they feel about civility.
White men aren't the ones being locked up in cages, abused by bigots, or shot by police.
Stop climbing to the very top of the privilege totem to ask the unaffected how the affected should behave

It’s all good fun until you get Floriduh! Man all over your windshield…
Shocking video shows man riding on hood of a car while traveling down I-95 in Miami, Florida. The car eventually exited the highway. https://t.co/5PIvhN9gbO pic.twitter.com/4rkeekxs9t
— ABC News (@ABC) June 25, 2018
From WSVN 7 News in Miami:
NORTH MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – Drivers on Interstate 95 were greeted with an odd sight after a car was seen flying down the highway with a man on the hood.
Twitter user @danimidah shared the video after he saw the car heading southbound near Ives Dairy Road on Sunday around 8 p.m.
The unidentified man could be seen clutching onto the hood of the black car, which was going around 70 miles per hour.
Nineteen-year-old Daniel Midah said he’s the man who shot the viral video.
Speaking to 7News, Midah said he was driving down I-95 when he turned his head and noticed the bizarre situation.
“I was like no one is going to believe me if I tell anyone,” he said, “so I took out my phone and just started recording.”
Midah said he was scared the entire time as he kept the camera rolling.
“It’s really insane, it’s surreal,” he said.
Midah said a woman was behind the wheel as the man gripped the car with one hand and held a cellphone with the other.
Midah called 911 after recording the viral video, fearing the driver could swerve and hit his car or the man could fall off into the street.
“It was kind of dangerous, not just for them, but for everybody around,” said Midah.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, but said they discourage anybody from taking video while driving.
According to FHP, the man on the hood of the car and the driver could be cited.
It is unknown if this was a lovers’ quarrel gone wrong.
“I don’t know if the guy was there willingly, if the guy was there on accident, if he just hopped on and she drove off,” said Midah.
Since sharing his tweet, Midah’s post was shared more than 14,000 times, garnering over 600,000 views.
I’d just like to highlight this part of the report from WSVN:
According to FHP, the man on the hood of the car and the driver could be cited.
Ya think?
Tune in tomorrow night to see what Floriduh! Man or Woman or Toddler or Iguana will do next… Same Floriduh! time, same Floriduh! station!
