Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Trump’s cabinet: like a magic 8 ball that only gives wrong answers.

Stay strong, because they are weak.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Find someone who loves you the way trump and maga love traitors.

Cancel the cowardly Times and Post and set up an equivalent monthly donation to ProPublica.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

Fucking consultants! (of the political variety)

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

You cannot love your country only when you win.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

It’s Up To Us Now, What’s Next?

We are taking a breather on our NC Black Alliance Phase II fundraising while they (hopefully) line up a match for us – we are getting low on Balloon Juice Angels, so an external match is key.  So while we take our breather, this is probably a good time to talk about what comes next after that.

We still have our zoom with NC Black Alliance this coming Tuesday July 30.  Please mark your calendars; these guys are inspirational.

So what comes next after North Carolina Black Alliance?

The Civics Center

We are talking with some other NC organizations, so it’s possible that we could be back in NC before November.  But in the meantime, we are going to be raising funds for The Civics Center – another group that is focused on Youth!  They train students in high schools and supply the materials they need to organize over registration in their school.  It’s a pretty cool program, and you’ll learn more about it when we kick off our fundraising for them in early August.

They call their materials “Democracy in a Box” – what’s not to love about a group that came up with that?

Four Directions in Montana

After that, we’ll head back to Montana for a bit as Four Directions gets to work, beginning with the Blackfeet Nation.

We need to keep Jon Tester in the Senate in order to get things done in 2025 and beyond.  Or, worst case, to stop what we can of a terrible Republican agenda.

We’ll be supporting Four Directions work again in Montana – more details to come in a later post, but I can share some fun stuff now.

We are getting a genuine Star Quilt to raffle off!!!   I am super excited about that, and we’ll have photos and quilt dimensions soon.

And they have an external match of $15,000 for us!   Still working on the full $30,000.

After That?

We have a bit more up our sleeves organization-wise, and of course we are going to blink and it will be September, so we’ll also start looking at candidates then.  As always, we look for really close races where our money is not salt in the ocean, where we can make a difference like we did in 2022.  So great to see so many of our “Purple House” people win their House seats,  and our “Election Protection” candidates win in key states like WI, NV, AZ and more.

Tell us what you’re getting up to!

Perspective – Choosing the Right Fight

This post is in: Open Threads

Rev Rick sent this to me on Sunday, before the news broke.

Everything changed when Biden declined the nomination.  But in many ways, nothing changed.  Our fight was, and is, to stop Trump and elect Democrats across the board.

I hope you will read what RevRick had to say. The threat is just as real today as it was when he wrote this on Sunday morning.

The real fight is with Trump, American Oligarchs, Republicans, Authoritarians.  If we fight each other, Trump will win.

RevRick

Hello, I’m Reverend Rick Guhl, a retired United Church of Christ pastor… and I have a great feeling of dread about the upcoming election.

The prospect of Donald Trump getting re-elected makes me fear for our nation. In fact, I find myself caught in a web of trauma thinking, bouncing between disbelief and despair, anxiety and anger, remorse and rage. I feel trapped in a hopeless state, both agitated and overwhelmed.

I understand the stakes. I see the link to the dark paths of the middle of the 20th century and I fear we will go down the same deadly road as Germany, Italy and Japan did then.

You see, my parents both served in the American Embassy in Berlin before the war, my mom as a secretary and my dad as an assistant to the Naval Attaché. They both spoke and understood German. They heard the fascist rhetoric 24/7, and I know this because my mom said it made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

And what did they hear from Hitler and the Nazi Regime?

They heard Hitler snarling that he would make Germany great again, just as Mussolini boasted he would restore the glory of Rome and the Japanese militarists growled that they would claim Japan’s rightful place in the sun.

They heard dehumanizing language directed at despised peoples: Jews and others, describing them as vermin and scum, as dangerous and defective, as disease-ridden and degenerate, as criminals, as those polluting the nation.

They heard Hitler promising revenge against Germany’s enemies, promising to rid the nation of those who polluted Germany’s pure blood and of those he accused had stabbed Germany in the back.

They heard threats of violence, and saw it played out in Kristallnacht, when the Nazis attacked Jewish businesses and synagogues and sent 10,000 Jewish men to the concentration camps, which inevitably would become death camps. They heard him promising to exterminate Europe’s Jews.

I hear echoes of all this and more in the rhetoric of Trump and his supporters and in the Project 2025.

Then, it was Make Germany Great Again. Today, it’s Make America Great Again. Then, the despised people were the Jews and the Rom and the LGBQT and the disabled. Today, the despised are those making arduous treks to  cross our Southern border, and Jews and the LGBQT.  Then, Hitler accused them of being dangerous and disease ridden, polluting Germany’s purity, bringing crime and drugs.

Today, they speak of rounding up 11 allegedly million illegal immigrants and sending them to camps for deportation. Does anyone really believe that when their Brownshirts sweep through neighborhoods they will care about such niceties as citizenship?

Just as Germany burned books and turned schools into factories of propaganda, we’re seeing book bans and plans to turn schools into factories of propaganda.

Just as Hitler attacked the free press as the “lying press”, Trump and his allies attack our free press as “fake news.”

Just as Hitler accused the LGBQT community of being degenerate, Trump calls them groomers and sexual predators.

Just as Hitler had underlings to carry out his evil plans, men like Russell Vought and Kevin Roberts are talking about declaring martial law on January 20th to implement Project 2025.

My dad, my uncle, and my father-in-law all served in the great struggle to crush fascism in Germany, Italy and Japan. Their graves, and those of sixteen million others who participated in that struggle in WW2, and especially the half million killed or missing in action, are scattered in cemeteries around the United States and overseas.

Now, Trump and his allies want to bring fascism into our country through the front door.

It pains me to say this, but they are spitting on the graves of those sixteen million. Every Republican who refuses to denounce the fascist rhetoric and plans are spitting on their graves.

Ultimately, it all comes back to us, you and me, as voters. Will we spit on the graves of the sixteen million WW2 veterans by electing Trump? Will we spit on their graves by giving our votes to Republicans who are on board with this ugly fascism? Will that legacy be etched into our gravestones? And even if it won’t there physically, you will know… and God will know.

Wednesday Morning Open Thread: Madam Vice President, All-American

Hey @realDonaldTrump. You ready for this? pic.twitter.com/GHBy697yRI

As President Biden steps aside and Vice President Harris declares candidacy, donors and delegates from Illinois say that the mood of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month vaults from trepidation to elation. https://t.co/wrIrRkrpoe

— Chicago Sun-Times (@Suntimes) July 23, 2024

Per the Chicago Sun-Times:

…The programming of the four convention nights, starting Aug. 19, is going to be revamped now that Biden bowed out on Sunday. Democrats who didn’t think Biden, 81, had a chance of beating Trump, 78, after the president’s disastrous debate are relieved.

At the convention, Biden will be saluted for his presidential, vice presidential and Senate legacy. When Biden delivers his keynote address, one convention veteran said, he will get a lengthy standing ovation and be treated as a hero.

“We have so many reasons to love Joe Biden,” Harris said when she visited the Delaware campaign headquarters on Monday afternoon. If elected, Harris, who is Black and Asian American, would be the country’s first female president…

Bob Clark, another top Biden donor and fundraiser, was a host of a May event at Chicago’s Palmer House headlined by Biden, bringing in more than $2 million.

With Democrats unifying around Harris, “There is nothing but excitement from my donor base,” Clark said.

show full post on front page

Clark has already donated $500,000 to the Chicago Host Committee for the convention and raised $500,000. With Harris reinvigorating Democrats, Clark said, “I’m going to give more and raise more.”…

Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Monday endorsed Harris, then visited the Chicago convention’s West Loop offices, along with Michael Sacks, the major Democratic donor and fundraiser who is leading the Chicago Host Committee. Pritzker led applause for Biden’s 50 years of political service and said he’s committed to showcasing Chicago at the convention, an official said.

Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., who has been a Biden-Harris campaign surrogate, said Democrats “will be very excited to nominate Kamala Harris to be president of the United States,” adding that the convention will be “a very positive, exciting event, and I can’t wait to attend.”…

The outstanding question is over the early, virtual nomination that was planned in order to lock in ballot access in Ohio and other states. On Wednesday, the convention rules committee will meet to discuss what is being called a “framework to select a new nominee.”

According to a memo obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times, the Democrats confirmed that they are going ahead with a virtual roll call. The bottom line, the memo concluded is that the Democrats will have a nominee in place by Aug. 7. Democratic officials are working to create a virtual nominating process with an electronic voting system.

"Several Hollywood publicists and agents told CNN the DNC will be star-studded with one source sharing that conversations with an A-list pop star are currently underway about a possible performance" https://t.co/ftR2fA8PbZ

— Nick Field (@nick_field90) July 24, 2024

CNN is excited that “Hollywood is now energized by Kamala Harris”:

… Plans for Harris’ first presidential fundraiser in Los Angeles are already underway, a source said, adding that multiple television, film and music executives have already raised their hand to host an event.

A briefing for the entertainment industry has been scheduled this week, according to a Zoom invitation from the Harris 2024 Campaign Entertainment Surrogates, which was shared with CNN by a top agent who plans to attend.

“I haven’t seen so many people that I know here and elsewhere so enlivened by a moment in politics since Obama’s original convention speech,” producer Greg Berlanti told CNN. “Joe Biden’s selfless act, combined with the kind of change and optimism and turning of the page that Kamala represents has reengaged so many people I know in this election and they are ready to fight for so many of the values that VP Harris has been fighting for her whole career.” …

Harris, a California native, has longstanding relationships within the entertainment industry and has garnered public support this week from the likes of Shonda Rhimes, Jessica Alba, Cher, Spike Lee, Viola Davis, Amy Schumer, Kerry Washington and Lynda Carter, who posted a photo of Harris in front of a “Wonder Woman” mural – likely a nod to what will be her historic run as the first Black woman and the first Asian American leading a major party ticket.

George Clooney, who loudly called for Biden’s exit, endorsed Harris, first telling CNN he is “excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest.” Harris also appears to have the support of one of the biggest stars in the world: Beyoncé, who, CNN exclusively reported, gave Harris permission to use her anthem “Freedom” as a campaign song, although she has not made an official endorsement.

“We’re back to where we were before, and that’s powerful,” a political strategist who is working with A-list stars this election season, told CNN. “It would have been fair to say that this very strong element of celebrity endorsements in the political cycle was on the sidelines, but they all put on their jerseys and are ready to go.”

“They love the president and have so much respect for them,” this individual added. “But there is clearly a different energy.”

“We are seeing unprecedented enthusiasm for VP Harris in every corner of our country,” Laura Brounstein, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, told CNN. “She has been a leading voice on the issues that really matter to all Americans, including the need to restore our reproductive rights, protecting unions, and addressing climate change. It’s encouraging that her message is resonating in Hollywood, Milwaukee and across the country.” …

… The company’s current operating profit margin, a measure of how much money it makes on every dollar of revenue, was 6.3 percent, compared with 9.6 percent in the same period a year ago.

The results will most likely heighten pressure on Tesla and its chief executive, Elon Musk, to show that the company can find new ways to grow and make money…

Sales of Tesla’s electric cars fell 4.8 percent in the second quarter, to 444,000 vehicles from the same period a year earlier. Production in the period declined 14 percent, to about 411,000 cars.

The second quarter’s setback comes after Tesla reported a 55 percent drop in profit and 9 percent decline in revenue in the first three months of 2024…

Mr. Musk said Tesla was moving cautiously on plans, announced last year, for a new factory in Mexico until after the presidential election. He said former President Donald J. Trump, the Republican candidate whom Mr. Musk recently endorsed, might impose tariffs on cars imported from that country…

With its sales slumping, Tesla has been trying to slash costs. In April, Mr. Musk said the company would lay off more than 10 percent of its staff, or about 14,000 people, worldwide. The cuts include 2,000 workers at its plant in Fremont, Calif., and nearly 2,700 at another in Austin, Texas.

It has also cut the prices of its cars, which has reduced the profit it makes on each vehicle it sells. For a time, those cuts helped to lift sales, but now the company is struggling to win over customers even with lower prices.

War for Ukraine Day 881: Russia Tries To Disrupt the Olympics

by Adam L Silverman|  July 23, 202410:08 pm| 12 Comments

This post is in: Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Military, Open Threads, Russia, Silverman on Security, War, War in Ukraine

A quick housekeeping note: Rosie is doing well on her second day after her chemo treatment yesterday. Thank you all for the good thoughts, well wishes, prayers, and donations.

It’s nice to know that there are somethings that you can always depend on. The sun rising in the east and setting in the west. And the Russians prosecuting their world war against the US, the EU, and NATO across using all elements of national power and lines of operation that range from interstate war to low intensity war to cyber warfare to subversion.

Wow, really? Who would have thought Russia would use the Olympics for sabotage? https://t.co/wDVNnYo7GU

— Maria Avdeeva (@maria_avdv) July 23, 2024

Wow, really? Who would have thought Russia would use the Olympics for sabotage? https://t.co/wDVNnYo7GU

— Maria Avdeeva (@maria_avdv) July 23, 2024

AFP has the details:

The man, born in 1984, was held in custody and placed under judicial investigation on suspicion of “organising events likely to lead to destabilisation during the Olympic Games”, a source in the state prosecution service, who asked not to be named, told AFP.

The source said an investigation was opened into “passing intelligence to a foreign power in order to arouse hostilities in France”, adding that the crime was punishable by up to 30 years in jail.

Prosecutors said a visit to the man’s home “at the request of the interior ministry” had uncovered evidence of the suspected plans.

They did not give any details of the alleged plot, except to say that it was not terrorist in nature, and that specialist anti-terrorist prosecutors were not following the case.

Authorities have investigated over a million people, including athletes, coaches, journalists, volunteers, security guards and even local residents near event locations ahead of the Olympics, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told weekly Paris Match on Tuesday.

Of those, 4,360 were denied access to the Games, with people close to Darmanin telling AFP on Sunday that 880 were barred over suspicions of foreign interference.

In recent months, several high-profile stunts have raised suspicion that foreign actors are trying to influence French public opinion or stoke divisions, notably about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or Israel’s campaign in Gaza after the October 7 attack by Hamas.

They include dummy coffins labelled “French soldiers in Ukraine” left by the Eiffel Tower in June and red hands tagged on Paris’s main Holocaust memorial in May.

In October, soon after Hamas’s attack, stars of David were tagged on buildings in the Paris region, with two Moldovans suspected to be working for the Russian FSB security service later arrested.

After last night’s update posted, the Russians opened up on Ukraine with missiles and drones:

Over Time, Ukraine Should Achieve Maximum Defense Independence – Address by the President

23 July 2024 – 20:30

I wish you good health, fellow Ukrainians!

Today I held a meeting of the Staff. Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Barhylevych delivered reports on the front – our actions, our steps, and the real situation with the occupier’s intentions and capabilities. Our task is to ensure by all means and with all our strength the constant effective destruction of Russian troops, their logistics and their important positions not only directly on the frontline, but also in all available depths. Available to our long-range capability. We are working with our partners to increase this level of defense. But while we are waiting for our partners’ decisions, we are looking for our own solutions, our own options. In this case, the key is our drones, our flexibility in the use of drones. Ukrainian warriors have already proven to be real innovators in many areas of drone use. And it is worth continuing, and we will continue this. I am grateful to everyone who helps with this – those who produce drones, those who supply them, those who train drone operators and those who generally promote this issue. Ukrainian leadership in this technological aspect, it is really tangible. Today, at the Staff meeting, we did a detailed analysis of our electronic warfare capabilities – the things that are already being done, the things that show real combat success. As well as the things we need to do on top of that. Plus, the missile program. Our missile program is showing good dynamics, and although it is a challenging task, we are gradually approaching the possibility of using our own missiles, and not just relying on missiles supplied by our partners. Over time, Ukraine should achieve maximum defense independence, as such states always find effective allies and realize their interests more easily.

The second thing for today. There have been several international meetings. Cardinal Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, paid a visit to Ukraine. I am grateful for this signal. This is the signal of support for Ukraine, for Ukrainians, and for our desire to live in our own state, and to live truly peacefully. We also appreciate that Cardinal Parolin visited not only Kyiv, but also Odesa, Berdychiv, Lviv. He saw our people’s mood, the objective needs of this time. We discussed what exactly can be done this year to bring closer a just peace for Ukraine. It is very important for us and for the cause of peace as such that the Vatican takes an active role in defending life and helping us to implement the Peace Formula and its points, especially those related to the release of prisoners. It was a good meeting, and I hope that the results will follow. I also spoke with the new Prime Minister of Estonia. I thanked him for the support, for our multi-level cooperation. We agreed to meet, and of course, we will continue all our cooperation, both political and defense. And today, the Head of the Office, Andriy Yermak, spoke with Phil Gordon, the National Security Advisor to the U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. It was at the Vice President’s level that America participated in the first Peace Summit, and it is important that the momentum of our joint work for a just peace does not diminish. All our partners at all levels know and will know in the future what the prospects are and that the just peace can indeed be restored as soon as possible.

And one more thing. I thank the warriors of our 110th separate mechanized brigade for their precision. They shot down another Russian Su-25 in the Donetsk region. This is exactly what we need. Well done, guys!

Glory to Ukraine!

I think that’s somewhere around 10 Su-25s that the Ukrainians have brought down in the last three months.

Lviv:

In January, Russia-linked hackers used a new form of malware to sabotage monitoring equipment in a heating utility in Lviv, Ukraine, turning off heat and hot water to 600 buildings for close to 48 hours in the midst of freezing winter temperatures. https://t.co/TrdlBHcaig

— Andy Greenberg (@agreenberg at the other places) (@a_greenberg) July 23, 2024

Wired has the details:

As Russia has tested every form of attack on Ukraine’s civilians over the past decade, both digital and physical, it’s often used winter as one of its weapons—launching cyberattacks on electric utilities to trigger December blackouts and ruthlessly bombing heating infrastructure. Now it appears Russia-based hackers last January tried yet another approach to leave Ukrainians in the cold: a specimen of malicious software that, for the first time, allowed hackers to reach directly into a Ukrainian heating utility, switching off heat and hot water to hundreds of buildings in the midst of a winter freeze.

Industrial cybersecurity firm Dragos on Tuesday revealed a newly discovered sample of Russia-linked malware that it believes was used in a cyberattack in late January to target a heating utility in Lviv, Ukraine, disabling service to 600 buildings for around 48 hours. The attack, in which the malware altered temperature readings to trick control systems into cooling the hot water running through buildings’ pipes, marks the first confirmed case in which hackers have directly sabotaged a heating utility.

Dragos’ report on the malware notes that the attack occurred at a moment when Lviv was experiencing its typical January freeze, close to the coldest time of the year in the region, and that “the civilian population had to endure sub-zero [Celsius] temperatures.” As Dragos analyst Kyle O’Meara puts it more bluntly: “It’s a shitty thing for someone to turn off your heat in the middle of winter.”

The malware, which Dragos is calling FrostyGoop, represents one of less than 10 specimens of code ever discovered in the wild that’s designed to interact directly with industrial control-system software with the aim of having physical effects. It’s also the first malware ever discovered that attempts to carry out those effects by sending commands via Modbus, a commonly used and relatively insecure protocol designed for communicating with industrial technology.

Dragos first discovered the FrostyGoop malware in April after it was uploaded in several forms to an online malware scanning service—most likely the Google-owned scanning service and malware repository VirusTotal, though Dragos declined to confirm which service—perhaps by the malware’s creators, in an attempt to test whether it was detected by antivirus systems. Working with Ukraine’s Cyber Security Situation Center, a part of the country’s SBU cybersecurity and intelligence agency, Dragos says it then learned that the malware had been used in the cyberattack that targeted a heating utility starting on January 22 in Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine.

Dragos declined to name the victim utility, and in fact says it hasn’t independently confirmed the the utility’s name, since it only became aware of the targeting from the Ukrainian government. Dragos’ description of the attack, however, closely matches reports of a heating outage at the Lvivteploenergo utility around the same time, which according to local media led to a loss of heating and hot water for close to 100,000 people.

Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi at the time called the event a “malfunction” in a post to the messaging service Telegram, but added, “there is a suspicion of external interference in the company’s work system, this information is currently being checked.” A Lvivteploenergo statement on January 23 described the outage more conclusively as the “result of a hacker attack.”

The ferry “Slavyanin” used by the Russians in the port of “Kavkaz” has been significantly damaged by Ukrainian Defense Forces. This ferry was used for transporting railway wagons, vehicles, and containers for military purposes. It is the third and last railway ferry Russia had in the region.

As said, the last Russian train ferry in the Kerch strait area. At the end of May 2024 two other Russian train ferries were damaged by missile strikes in the Kerch Strait.

But he has big fans… in our Failed Very Serious Media! Per the reliably terrible Caitlin Flanagan, advertising her ‘Thought Crimes for All Occasions’:

What people don't understand about the Whites is the atavistic response that people from educated families have to the others. Diet Mountain Dew isn't a soda. It's a status marker that sends educated Whites running for crucifixes and Pellegrino. https://t.co/NVOpwKXj6e

Counterpoint: Vance's loser freak shit and flop vibes may well be enough to turn the media on him entirely. https://t.co/UDeN08dRwy

You can see why someone incredibly dumb but fundamentally good could like Palin, even if they were objectively wrong to do so. Vance is just a castrated water balloon full of melted lard.

Interesting that the Democratic message is "we have a strong younger nominee who is taking our message to the voters" and the Republican message is "if you don't vote for us we will murder you and install a dictator." https://t.co/qbnqWPlGO8

Reup: Fraudulent Failson Judgement: JD Vance "Ain't From Here"

Donny let his failson pick his VP, and he picked a guy who monetized insulting Trump's vtoers.https://t.co/CdkwZJLhpJ

— emptywheel (ni-ceská) (@emptywheel) July 23, 2024

… [O]n top of the fact that Don Jr has long been targeted by foreign spies and Neo-Nazis, he’s painfully stupid. As Michael Cohen testified, “Mr. Trump had frequently told me and others that his son Don Jr. had the worst judgment of anyone in the world.”

Yet, in all the reviews (or, in some cases, shameless beat sweeteners) of the sons’ involvement in Trump’s recent decisions, there has been no question about whether their cooperation in Dad’s fraud or their poor judgment should disqualify them from such a role.

That’s particularly true given their decisive role in picking JD Vance. The stories describe how the sons, especially Don Jr, were able to convince their Dad to ignore the counsel of actual political consultants like Kellyanne Conway and instead pick an inexperienced extremist who once called Trump America’s Hitler as his running mate…

Apparently, Don Jr — he of the poor judgment — was impressed by Hillbilly Elegy, a memoir that treats Trump’s people as deplorables.

The eldest Trump son, who had been a fan of “Hillbilly Elegy” before the campaign, had come to like Vance personally, and the two developed a close friendship after Vance won his Senate race.

And so, in spite of the fact that JD Vance actually underperformed Republicans in his Senate race, Trump was convinced that Peter Thiel’s errand-boy will help him win the Rust Belt…

There are already reports that, in light of Biden ceding the ticket to Kamala, the campaign may be regretting that decision….

There are so many ways this is going to sting Trump's ego.

A) He picked a loser.
B) The loser is *still* getting more attention than him.
C) He can't get fire the loser.

This post is in: Open Threads

This day has had a mind of its own, and I have been remiss in not saying how awesome it is that we met the $10,000 challenge by our “bonus” Angel, and we got to $15,000 last night.

Hoping to hear from NC Black Alliance soon about whether they have found us an external match.  Then we’ll get back to it and get them the funds for their expansion into community colleges in Phase II.

In the meantime, well done jackals and BJ peeps!

We are the Little Engine That Could.  (Kick Ass)

Oh, and just because I can…

Totally open thread.
