He went in for blood work last weekend and the results came back: no lingering anemia and no damage to his organs from the Rimadyl. According to my vet, “All is well on Planet Walter.” He’s going in again this Saturday for his first dose of Adequan, and so I can be shown how to do the injections myself. I also want his tumors biopsied and to discuss their possible removal. The one along his rib cage seems like it might be causing him discomfort since he scratches at it sometimes.
His weight is holding steady right at 88 pounds, and he seems to be feeling pretty good. I have caught him sleeping on the sofa in the living room, so for sure he’s feeling good enough to scramble up there.
It’s now been just about a month since he came to me. Here’s a video I took tonight of him in the back yard looking for the elusive squirrel. It’s hard to believe he’s the same dog you found at the start of August.

That’s not the same dog that left my house a month ago. I think Debit is selling herself short here. Here’s a sweet pic of Walter and Ellie sitting in front of the fire place:
And finally, a bonus video of the old married couple holding hands while warming their old bones:
All together now, “Awwwwwwww.”
