Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

She burned that motherfucker down, and I am so here for it. Thank you, Caroline Kennedy.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Sometimes the world just tells you your cat is here.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

So many bastards, so little time.

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

Late-Night Open Thread: The Lyin’ in Winter

by Anne Laurie|  February 28, 201811:25 pm| 65 Comments

This post is in: Hail to the Hairpiece, Open Threads, Trump Crime Cartel, Assholes, Nobody could have predicted, Not Normal, Schadenfreude

Last 24 hours has seen stories about Mueller pursuing lines of Trump inquiry on:

Email Hacking/release coordination (NBC)
Obstruction via Sessions threats (Post)
Business dealings in Russia (CNN)

In other words, he is investigating everything. Everything.

— Matthew Miller (@matthewamiller) March 1, 2018

it rules that Trump's weird family pathologies are going to result in scandal timebomb Kushner hanging around the White House doing nothing except absorbing controversy until everything inevitably blows up

— Simon Maloy (@SimonMaloy) February 27, 2018

And here Donald thought he’d found himself a “son” who was a competent grifter!

It’s been a truism since at least Jimmy Carter’s presidency that Washington DC is “wired for Republicans”, but it’s a company town and these Trump goniffs are damaging the brand. I suspect the stories Roxanne Roberts shares in the Washington Post hurt Jared, Ivanka, and their socially-insecure old man’s feelings much more than any Democratic accusations of treason / incompetence / general venality — “Washington society and Team Trump: A year in, the fear and loathing is mutual”:

… The president and many of his closest advisers are contemptuous and suspicious of the Washington establishment, which they dismiss as the “swamp.” And the city’s social elite, normally quick to embrace a new chief executive and his inner circle, are judgmental, wary and afraid of being, as one Republican put it, “tainted for life.”

“This establishment is trying to reject Trump and his family like white blood cells chasing off an infection,” says conservative anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist, who has lived in Washington for 33 years. And Trump loyalists, he says, see little value in rubbing shoulders with people who didn’t want anything to do with them before the election…

The Trumps, for their part, seem to want not just respect and courtesy but personal allegiance. One Republican hostess, eager to introduce Trump family members to some of her friends, was told that they were interested only in people who are “loyal” — a term rarely used to describe social acquaintances…

There was a moment when Ivanka and Jared seemed like the perfect bridge between the White House and social Washington. They were young, glamorous and chic, the ultimate power couple in a city full of them. They had impeccable manners and were eager to engage. They hosted small dinners at their Kalorama home for members of Congress, administration officials and other prominent Washingtonians…

That mutual admiration was short-lived. The couple apparently became increasingly disenchanted with Washington after the Russia scandal broke, surprised by what they considered vicious, unfair attacks. Whatever goodwill they felt toward the establishment has reportedly evaporated, and the two are rarely seen at social events outside the president’s orbit.

Meanwhile, the A-list was surprised by what some describe as the self-importance and humorlessness of Team Trump. “This is the first administration,” one fundraiser says, “where you can’t tease.” …

The Kushner saga would be so bizarre – the president putting a vastly underqualified relative in charge of making Mideast peace, solving the opioid crisis and dealing with China – even if he could get a security clearance and didn't revise his disclosure forms 40-plus times.

— Daniel Dale (@ddale8) February 27, 2018

New: Jared Kushner, whose demeanor has been described as paranoid in recent days, suspects that the timing of the story about his foreign contacts was coordinated to be released when issues surrounding his security clearance were in the news. https://t.co/2d5ky3iuwk

Here’s the next wingnut move to make sure they keep stroking that rod:

NEWFOUNDLAND, Pa. — A Pennsylvania-based religious group is scheduled to host a blessing ceremony for couples that will feature their AR-15 rifles.

World Peace and Unification Sanctuary in Newfoundland believes the AR-15 symbolizes the “rod of iron” in the biblical book of Revelation, and it is encouraging couples to bring the weapons to a commitment ceremony Wednesday morning.

“Pope LaPierre” has quite a ring to it, don’t you think?

Update: My God:

Hundreds of crown-wearing worshipers clutching AR-15 rifles drank holy wine and exchanged or renewed wedding vows in a commitment ceremony at a Pennsylvania church https://t.co/V7yOttUfEU pic.twitter.com/b2NZe85CHQ

Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 28, 2018

You know you're the president, right? If you have questions for your own attorney general, you can probably get him on the phone pretty easily. https://t.co/k6Cn6buhlY

— Kevin M. Kruse (@KevinMKruse) February 28, 2018

You know, some would call this a hostile work environment. https://t.co/Npt7mWRZbX

— Alyssa E. Hackbarth (@AlyssaEinDC) February 28, 2018

Sometimes, when you’re under stress, you snap at the people around you, because you’re confident they’ll understand…

…“Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse?” the U.S. president wrote in a tweet that was also critical of the IG, Michael Horowitz… Horowitz is investigating the FBI and Justice Department’s handling of its 2016 probe into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email arrangements. Trump fired FBI director James Comey last year in part, he said, because of that investigation.

Trump has repeatedly attacked and mocked Sessions and has said he wouldn’t have nominated him as attorney general if he’d known Sessions would later recuse himself from overseeing the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign…

For Sessions, the public criticism by the president is offset by a job that gives him a chance to pursue his career-long agenda of conservative positions on law enforcement issues, from restrictions on immigration to enforcement of federal laws against marijuana.…

The key to understanding Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III is that he loves racism more than he loves himself.

To recap: The president, who is a Republican, has taken a break from attacking law enforcement to adopt Democratic positions on gun control, and then proposes creating an unconstitutional police state that can seize weapons from private citizens without due process

Significant If True…

This post is in: Election 2016, Goddamned Traitors, Politics, Republican Stupidity, Trump Crime Cartel, Trump-Russia, General Stupidity

Looks like Mr. Mueller is asking the right questions about the right people. Via NBC:

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team is asking witnesses pointed questions about whether Donald Trump was aware that Democratic emails had been stolen before that was publicly known, and whether he was involved in their strategic release, according to multiple people familiar with the probe.

Mueller’s investigators have asked witnesses whether Trump was aware of plans for WikiLeaks to publish the emails. They have also asked about the relationship between GOP operative Roger Stone and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, and why Trump took policy positions favorable to Russia.

The line of questioning suggests the special counsel, who is tasked with examining whether there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election, is looking into possible coordination between WikiLeaks and Trump associates in disseminating the emails, which U.S. intelligence officials say were stolen by Russia.

It would be awesome if that twisted fart-huffer Roger Stone plays a role in bringing the whole Jenga treason tower down. Maybe he could get a tattoo of Trump on his ass to match his Nixon tattoo. More from the report:

At that same July 2016 news conference where he referenced Clinton’s missing emails, candidate Trump said he was open to lifting sanctions on Russia and possibly recognizing its annexation of Crimea in Ukraine. The U.S. and its European allies had sanctioned Russia because of its intervention in Ukraine and annexation of Crimea, which the Obama administration refused to recognize.

Investigators have asked witnesses why Trump took policy positions that were friendly toward Russia and spoke positively about Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to people familiar with the probe.

Investigators have also inquired whether Trump met with Putin before becoming president, including if a meeting took place during Trump’s 2013 visit to Moscow for his Miss Universe pageant. Trump has given conflicting responses on when he first met Putin.

At least one witness was asked about Trump’s business interests in Moscow and surmised afterward that the Special Counsel investigation may be focused on business dealings that took place during the campaign.

Maybe it’ll all come to nothing. But it sure seems like Mueller is asking the right questions. And since he’s already flipped some folks, he knows who’s lying.

So much for good guy’s with guns…

There is a barricaded subject in a classroom. It is believed to be a teacher.

— Dalton Police (@DaltonPD) February 28, 2018

UPDATE: The teacher is in custody.

— Dalton Police (@DaltonPD) February 28, 2018

No info to release right now about identity of the subject who was barricaded or what caused the situation.

— Dalton Police (@DaltonPD) February 28, 2018

One student apparently sustained an ankle injury running inside the school during the evacuation. Student is being treated by EMS at the school.

— Dalton Police (@DaltonPD) February 28, 2018

From WGNO:

DALTON, GA. – An armed teacher has been arrested after shots were fired at a high school in a small town in northern Georgia.

The Dalton Police Department reported that “shot or shots” had been fired at Dalton High School just after 11:15 a.m. on the department’s official Twitter account.

Minutes later, DPD added that the armed suspect was barricaded inside a classroom at the school and urged parents not to come to the school.

Students were transported to the Northeast Georgia Trade Center for pickup, according to the DPD.

At 11:23 a.m., the department tweeted an update that read “The teacher is in custody.”

No students were harmed, and no children were in danger during the incident, according to the DPD.

This is obviously going to be a fast changing story as more information becomes available, especially in regard to the teacher’s motives and the actual events.

Stay frosty.
