Apparently Ohio just removed 160,000 voters from the voter rolls.  I guess Ohio wants to be more like Georgia, but let’s not let them get away with it.  Or maybe they’re already worse than GA about voting, but they want to cement their slot.

It’s only 160,000 voters, who cares?

That’s about 2% of the registered voters in Ohio who just had their ability to vote taken away.

How many races have we seen in the past few years where the results are that close, or closer?

Also apparently, time is short sf you know anyone in Ohio, please reach out today and ask them to verify that they are still on the voting rolls.

Worker Power Leadership School – Field Notes Vol. 1

We have news from Worker Power, where we recently funded a student so they could attend the Worker Power Leadership School.  It looks like Worker Power will be sharing their weekly newsletter with us over the 4 weeks of Leadership School.

This is a helpful reminder to me that good things have been happening this week, which will pay off in the fall and for years ahead, even we have been mostly focused on the drama of these past few weeks.

If you guys are interested, I thought I would share some of the information with you each week.  Let me know in the comments?

With 4 weeks of school, I imagine we will get 4 of these.  One of the students from this year’s school will be leading the team we will funding for 3 weeks in the fall.  We don’t know who our team leader will be in the fall, but won’t it be fun if it turns out to be one of the students that is featured here?

Fifty-five years! Way to make some of us feel old…

The cosmos is providing a full moon for the 55th anniversary of the first lunar landing this weekend, and plenty of other events honor Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s giant leap.

Aldrin, 94, the last surviving member of the Apollo 11 crew, headlines a gala at the San Diego Air and Space Museum on Saturday night. He’ll be joined by astronaut Charlie Duke, who was the voice inside Mission Control for the July 20, 1969 moon landing.

Museum President Jim Kidrick couldn’t resist throwing a bash “55 years to the day of one of the most historic moments in not only the history of America, but in the history of the world.”…

… [Y]ou can explore all things Apollo 11 on a special website by the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum.

If nothing else, soak in the full moon Saturday night into Sunday morning.

This guy turned eight this week and you’d never know it. You’d never know he looked like this two years ago when he came to live with us. A little grayer, but still jumps around like a puppy with a touch of ADHD.

Dog Blogging: Need Your Thoughts

I’ve gotten nothing done today that was on my list, but some days are like that. I have a climate post ready to go for tomorrow, but we’ll see how the day goes. I may have to buckle down and do some serious writing instead.

The rest of the critters are all doing fine. I’m posting Furry Fridays over at my writing blog every Friday if you ever wonder how the other furry/feathered critters are doing.

Quick housekeeping note: Rosie is still doing great. Thank you all for the good thoughts, well wishes, prayers, and donations.

Russia opened up on both Mykolaiv and Chuhuiv today:

A Russian missile strike on Mykolaiv hit a children’s playground near an ordinary residential house. Currently, five people are reported injured, and three people were killed, including a child. My deepest condolences to the families and friends who have lost their loved ones.

Every day, Russia proves with its terror that there is not enough pressure on it. This destruction of life must be stopped.

We need new measures to support our defense. Russia must feel the power of the world.

President Zelenskyy addressed a meeting of the British government today. As of now, no video has been posted on the President of Ukraine’s YouTube channel, so here is the video from President Zelenskyy’s tweet.

I see we have quite a day with lots of thoughts about whether it is or should be Biden, and I am pleased to report that I have now entered the “whatever I don’t give a fuck whatever energy I had for this kind of nonsense is now tapped just let me know whose sticker to put on my car and you fuckers sort it out” phase of this clusterfuck. I understand that achieving this level of Gen X zen/NFLTG/”you do you” peace of mine is a privilege bestowed upon me by luck and demography, but I’m sorry, it’s mine and I’m using it. It’s what I relied on when I wanted to quit drinking- I was just so fucking over that life and that was that.

In sum, I just can’t with the bullshit anymore. I’d vote for a fucking carboard cutout of Biden or Obama or Clinton or Harris over Trump so everything else just doesn’t fucking matter anymore. I’m gonna keep on doing my summer thing and enjoy some of the marvels that exist.

I mean did you see his fucking speech last night? Who the fuck cares who is running against him? It’s the better option.

Really enjoyed another couple hours at the gym today, and got a good walk, nice sauna, then swam for about and hour and some. I’m already noticing a difference in my shoulders and my mood. Gonna keep it up.

Dinner tonight was one of my summertime favorites- take a slice of bread, put a think slice or two of tomato with some salt and pepper, cover it with a slice of American or cheddar cheese, put it in the toaster oven for about 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melty and about to brown, and dig it. Wersh it down with a big slug of sun tea. Just the best.

I think I have mentioned this before, but I have no idea with my memory these days and don’t care enough to look in the archives, but one of the side bonuses of having been a drunk for so many years is that in the period around the mid aughts up until I quit drinking, I watched a lot of tv shows. Let me rephrase that. I was drinking while I had a lot of tv shows from that period running, so I watched them but I did not “watch” them if you know what I mean. So that means that there are a lot of shows I am having a good time watching, and much of it is for the first time.

Such is the case with True Blood, which I remember enjoying, but rewatching it now in all it’s campy glory and complete excess is a lot of fun. And that is what I am going to do this evening. Eat some cantaloupe, pet a cat, and watch True Blood.

Not obsess over what a bunch of turbonerds on twitter think about the election.
