A quick housekeeping note: Things are starting to get back to normal here. I’ve got one more major house-hurricane related item to deal with tomorrow and that should be it. The girls are doing great. Rosie’s next and final chemo treatment is on Monday. Thank you all for the good thoughts, well wishes, prayers, and donations.
It’s going to take me a couple of days to get fully caught up, including on sleep, and recover. So, I’m just going to run through the basics again tonight.

Right now, at 8:20 PM EDT/3:20 AM local time in Ukraine, over 2/3rds of Ukraine is under air raid alert. There’s no indication on the alert maps that Russia has its strike fighters and bombers up, so this is most likely another massed drone swarm attack.
President Zelenskyy addressed the European Union Council today while in Brussels. He introduced them to the classic conundrum of the Lady or the Tiger:
“Either Ukraine will have nuclear weapons, and then it will be a defense for us, or Ukraine will be in NATO. NATO countries are not at war today. All people are alive in NATO countries. And that is why we choose NATO over nuclear weapons.” – President Zelensky. pic.twitter.com/yAv3RoozDi

NATO, the EU, and the US have a decision to make. Either they begin to seriously work on how to get Ukraine into NATO sooner or Ukraine will develop its own nuclear deterrent. Frankly, I would not be surprised to eventually find out that Ukraine is well on its way to building its own nuclear weapons in order to establish deterrence vis a vis Russia. I would also NOT be surprised if they’ve been able to do this without US or any other state’s intelligence services knowing.

And here’s the full video of his joint press conference with NATO’s Secretary General:
Both Mark Rutte, NATO’s new Secretary General, and Sweden’s Defense Minister had the follong to say about President Zelenskyy’s address.

◾️Ukraine will become 33rd or 34th member of NATO, which currently has 32 members, the recently appointed Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, said during a press conference with journalists in Brussels.
“At the moment, it seems that it will be Ukraine as number 33. But maybe somebody else pops in front of it. But Ukraine will be a member of NATO in the future. That is what we decided in Washington. So, the question is not about the timeline,” said the NATO Secretary General.
◾️Sweden supports Ukraine’s Victory Plan and its future membership in NATO, – Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson.
Jonson noted that the Victory Plan will be discussed at the evening meeting in Brussels.
“Ukraine is on an irreversible path to full NATO membership, which is very important. We have a lot to learn from Ukraine when it comes to defense innovation. And Ukraine also has strong Armed Forces,” he said.
Here is President Zelenskyy’s address from earlier today. Video below, English transcript after the jump.
