The next day we boarded a van and headed south to Frontera Corazol on the Usumacinta River (aka the Sacred Monkey River). The river there is the border between Mexico and Guatemala. The rafting company who organized the trip is dedicated to protecting wild rivers around the world. We were told this was the mildest white water river they do.

War for Ukraine Day 804 Again: It Is Not Ground Hog Day

Two quick housekeeping notes. The first is today was exceedingly long, so tonight’s update is going to be on the shorter side. The second is that according to Steeplejack in last night’s comments, I apparently skipped from day 783 to 785 back in April. I’m not going back to check as I trust that he is correct. This is why tonight’s post is the second day 804 update in a row, which should get us back on track.

As you can see from the map above, 2/3rds of Ukraine is currently under air raid alert. Putin apparently decided to celebrate his inauguration by bombarding the Ukrainians once again. I would expect that this will continue for at least the next several days until we get past Russia’s Victory Day celebrations on the 9th of May.

I’m seeing unconfirmed reports of Shaheds over Sumy Oblast. We’ll have to wait for more credible reporting to know what is going on right now. However, we do know what has been thrown at the citizens of Sumy Oblast over the past 24 hours.

ussian troops launched 224 strikes on Sumy Oblast over the course of 6 May. One person was killed, and two young children and two adults were injured.

Details: Ten private buildings, three private households, six apartment buildings, eight vehicles, two grain elevator buildings, two administrative buildings, energy and critical infrastructure facilities, business premises, a shop and a warehouse were damaged as a result of the attack.

In addition, an outbuilding belonging to one company was destroyed, and a tank containing fuel and lubricants caught fire.

Investigators have instigated criminal proceedings over these events for violations of the laws and customs of war.

Background: Sumy Oblast Military Administration reported that the Russians attacked Krasnopilia hromada in Sumy Oblast with artillery on 6 May, injuring a man and two children.

Today was my first day of summer vacation, and I accomplished shit all. Like nothing. It’s been this muggy, overcast, no sun bullshit punctuated with rain for a week now, and it is sucking the life out of me and killing my sinuses.

Currently I am totally sucked into the Kendrick Lamar/Drake blood feud, and I have to tell you, I am having the best time online since the aughts with websites like Kissing Suzy Kolber and YTMND and other sites like them. You know, back when the internet was fun and there were tons of blogs and everything wasn’t corporate or overrun by fucking nazis.

It’s been entirely too much fun. I’ve loved Lamar since the days of Section 80 and Good Kid, and I have always, for whatever reasons, hated Drake. I think I’m on record on twitter or elsewhere that the only good Drake song was the Poetic Justice by Kendrick himself in which Drake was just featured. For those of you not following along, Drake has basically screwed over everyone he has ever worked with, has generated a ton of bad blood with basically the entire community, Kendrick warned him to not start shit, Drake did anyway, and now Kendrick is just repeatedly bodying him. I’m not going to go too deep into it, but he’s basically called him out on a lot of unseemly shit that has been open rumors until now. Liking young women, not claiming his own kids, pretending to be whiter when it is convenient and blacker when it is convenient, not writing his own music, having lipo and other plastic surgery, etc.

And he’s just soo much better than Drake and Drake is sooo out of his league. Lamar is a Pultizer prize winner. As one person said, it’s as if JK Rowling decided to have a battle of words with Toni Morrison. On top of the diss tracks released by Lamar, Drake was dumb enough to pick a fight with a pretty influential record producer named Metro Boomin, telling him to “Metro, shut yo ho-a– up and make some drums, n—a.” And so Metro did just that, and the other day released a track called BBL Drizzy (BBL stands for Brazilian Butt Lift and Drizzy is Drake’s nickname.” But he didn’t stop there, he released it and asked everyone to make their own diss tracks using the track he created.

So now we have the spectacle of people all over the world making diss tracks in multiple languages using Metro’s beats. I’ve seen them in French and Japanese, I saw one using interpretive dance, and today I watched one using… American Sign Language.

I understand that for many of you this makes no sense and is pointless, but I am here to tell you it is immensely entertaining and I LOVE a good train wreck.

Speaking of train wrecks, I see that Stormy Daniels finally got her day in court today, and apparently went into detail about how she and Trump had sex all those years back, discussing how he said it was ok that he and Melania don’t even share a bedroom and how they did not use a condom. All I could think about was back when the Lewinsky scandal was in the news and all the Republicans and religious nuts and moral scolds in the media were all “What am I going to tell my children?”

Now they’re all gonna vote for Trump. And btw- you don’t have to talk to your children about this. You just don’t.

I guess that is all I have.

Not only did he have to spend two hours listening to MTG vomit in his ear yesterday, he had to listen to her again today.  Here’s the latest from her:

Following their second meeting, Greene would not specify when she may force the vote and wouldn’t commit to moving to oust the speaker this week, but she said that Johnson has a “pretty short” window to act on a list of demands. A vote to remove the speaker is certain to fail, however, since House Democrats have announced they would vote to kill her motion.

This prompts me to repeat my question from last week:

Also, in case you missed this little bit of trolling from Hakeem Jeffries’ interview on 60 Minutes, I’m gonna guess that Marge spent at least a few minutes of those two hours of consultation with her pastor whining about this:

“Even though we’re in the minority, we effectively have been governing as if we were in the majority because we continue to provide a majority of the votes necessary to get things done,” Jeffries said. “Those are just the facts.”

“It’s a difficult situation on the other side of the aisle, because many of my Republican colleagues are more interested in creating chaos, dysfunction, and extremism,” he continued.

“All” that Marge wants is to fuck over Ukraine, only pass bills with Republican votes, and to defund investigations into Trump — in other words, stuff that someone from an R+infinity red district would think is just glorious, and everyone else in the party would run away from.   Johnson will probably throw her some kind of bone, but it’s going to have to be something really minor.  I’m thinking Greene will latch onto that nothingburger and turn it into a something to save face, but she might just force a vote that will make Johnson even more beholden to Jeffries.  I hope she will, so Jeffries can get another concession.

My experience dealing with the insane is limited to a few minutes on public transit where I couldn’t get away from someone running their crazy mouth.  I just can’t imagine listening to Greene’s bullshit for hours.  I guess being “speaker” for a few months must be worth it for Pastor Mike, but I for one couldn’t eat that amount of shit in order to keep the title.
